DREADFUL LIES.
UNEXPECTED LOVE.
IMPOSSIBLE TRUTH.
It only took one heartbeat to change my life–one chilling phone call in the middle of the night.
And then, as if my life didn’t already suck, my dad sends my brother and me to some idyllic island for the summer to live with a grandma we never met. WTH. Naturally, I rebel. In the end, I find myself shipped off to Raven Hallow…and bored to tears.
Until I get an eyeful of the mind-bendingly gorgeous Zane Hunter. The dark-hair cutie makes my pulse go bonkers, and I think, maybe this might not be so bad after all. Six feet of swoon inducing looks, with a hint of Celtic charm in his voice, he was the type of guy that left a string of broken hearts in his wake. And I had all the heartbreak I could handle.
Yet, there is something uncanny, almost supernatural about Zane, and it’s not just his devastating smirk. No matter how much distance I put between us, Raven Hallow isn’t big enough, and the sparking tension between is undeniable. Of course, the one person I want to avoid becomes my salvation.
My past comes back to terrorize me. Someone wants me dead, and the closer I get to the truth, the more I realize my whole life is a lie. I am no longer sure what is more frightening–the attempts on my life or the guy whose heart and soul are synchronized with mine.
WHITE RAVEN is the enthralling first installment in The Raven series. A YA paranormal romance full of atmosphere, self-discovery, and love that will keep you captivated until the very last page.
TJ and Rose kept the conversation rolling as I gave the appropriate one-word responses or a head nod. I didn’t have much of an appetite, mostly picking at my chicken Caesar salad and gazing out at the ocean, until…
His hair was black as a wintry night, eyes icy blue as a gypsy’s heart. He had a lazy saunter about him and a glint of humor twinkling in those heart-melting eyes. There was nothing loose about his body, muscles bunching as he tethered a boat to the dock. I twiddled the straw, staring
brazenly.
Good God. I wanted to have his babies. Not now, but most definitely someday. And just like that, my summer got a billion times hotter…and interesting—way more interesting. I bit my lip, mulling over how I was going to accidentally fall into his pants. Um—I mean path or even his lap would do, anything to get that one’s attention.
Drool hit the table in a mad case of fangirl, and I didn’t even know his name.
As if he sensed he was being slobbered over, his eyes scraped over me, and I held my breath. Holy hot tamales. An electric bolt of…lust maybe, I really didn’t know what it was, but it coiled through my body, making me shudder. A flicker of an unidentified emotion crossed his face, right before a secret smile appeared on his lips. Oh man, don’t get me started on his lips.
Elbows propped on the table, I rested my head on the edge of my palms, continually gazing and getting lost in the depths of his eyes. He hypnotized me. I followed his movements, my eyes glued to him. Then one of my elbows slipped off the table in classic Piper form, and down I went. I caught myself just before my chin whacked a corner of the patio table.
Only me.
Mortified, I closed my eyes.
TJ laughed. “Smooth, Pipe. I think you made a lasting impression.”

Featured Book: White Raven
I am super thrilled to be a part of this amazing boxed set and be in the company of such awesome authors. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jennifer Weil, but I write under J.L. Weil, and I’m most known for my Divisa Series.
Hello, Jennifer! How long have you been a writer and how did you come to writing?
For me, it all started because I love to read. I daydream a lot, and then one day, I started to write down the scenes running in my head. When I actually sat down to write my first book, I felt utterly ridiculous and excited at the same time. Luminescence was the end result, my very first novel. For the next two years, I literally wrote non-stop, releasing nine books. White Raven was my twelfth novel, and I currently have written a totally of fifteen books.
My publishing journey has had its ups and downs. I’ve learned so much, and most of it from trial and error (lots of error). I virtual knew nothing about self-publishing when I started, and even though I have done the traditional route, for me personally, self-publishing fits. I enjoy the creative freedom and flexibility of making my own schedule.
How did you come up with this storyline?
Umm, I do a ton of daydreaming. Actually, I sleep with a notebook and a pen on my nightstand. There have been many times I’ve woken up and scratched something down. The fun part is trying to decipher it in the morning. I love myths and legends, particularly those Celtic inspired.
What are the best and the worst aspects of writing?
I absolutely love being a writer. My favorite part would be sharing the excitement of something I created with my readers. I love the interaction and the shared love for the characters. It is absolutely amazing hearing how excited readers get for release day, and I definitely feed off the energy. It motivates me to keep writing. It’s also pretty to cool to work in your PJ’s and not have to care what my hair looks like.
Are there bad aspects of being a writer? For me personally, my biggest obstacle to overcome is negativity. I’m kind of a sensitive person, so developing a backbone has been a challenge. No matter how many hundreds of readers tell me how much they’ve enjoyed a book or loved a character, it only takes one negative comment. It doesn’t always affect me in major ways, but it might stick with me, maybe sneak back while I’m writing.
For readers who don’t know about your books, tell us a little about them?
Romance is my favorite genre. And I adore young love. There is nothing better than exploring that first kiss, those intense crazy feelings, and being so blissfully in love that nothing else matters.
I love to write about headstrong females with smart mouths that get them in loads of trouble, and drool-worthy alpha males who get knocked on their butt all in the name of love. Add a bit of paranormal and magic to the mix and that’s my recipe for a novel.
What do you think makes a good story?
A really hot, mouth-watering bad boy. I am a sucker for them. The more possessive and snarky, the better. Lots of kissing and stuff, if you get my drift. I also like my heroine to be sassy and empowering.
Are you a Plotting (plot out) and Pantsing (free writing) writing?
No plotting here. I pretty much fly by the seat of my pants. My style consists of a bunch of scribbled notes of ideas and scenes that come to me in the most inconvenient times, like when I’m stuck in traffic, in the shower, or waiting in line at the grocery store. Trying to piece those together in a story that flows can be interesting. Most of the time when I get to the end of a book, I’m shocked it all came together. I also think I suffer quite a bit from procrastination thanks to Twitter and Facebook.
What are 3 of your favorite quotes from White Raven?
“I think you dropped something, Pipe,” he said.
“Uh, what?”
“Your standards,” he sneered.”
“Oh, so suddenly you’re an expert in crazy?”
“After meeting you, I feel I could write a thesis on the subject.”
“…I will be your sword. I will be your shield. I will defend you until my last breath. This vow I swear freely, to be your weapon as long as you shall live.”
Who is your favorite character from White Raven and why?
Zane Hunter. I love bad boys, and Zane being death reaper definitely has a bad side. I like to let my lead males be bad. The more trouble they cause the better. They’re more fun that way!
Are reader reviews important to you?
Extremely. I like knowing how the reader felt about the story, or if they connected with a certain character. Those are elements I want to know if they came across to the reader as I had hoped. For me, characterization is important, and I like to keep things as real as possible. I want the reader to forget it’s a paranormal story. And of course lots of hot guys help. The feedback I get from readers helps me know areas I might need to pay more attention to. I want to grow as a writer with each book.
What are five facts readers might not know about you?
1. I am obsessed with tattoos and piercings. They can be found in almost all my stories.
2. Jensen Ackles is my celebrity crush. *sigh*
3. I love Celtic, magical, and mystical elements.
4. Green Bay Packers are my favorite team!
5. I’m shy and suck at chitchat.
Tell us about your other books?
I have two other series besides the Raven Series. The Divisa series is about a half-demon and the girl he would risk everything to save. Chase and Angel have a unique bond. And through the series the bond only deepens, solidifying Angel to Chase and consequently to Hell. This series is filled with romance, action, challenges, death, and an unbreakable love. I have mad love for these two characters.
The Luminescence Trilogy was the first series I ever wrote and is packed with magic and young love. Brianna and Gavin captivate the pages of this series. In a journey self-discovery, Bri must learn to embrace the power inside her.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on a new series, Beauty Never Dies Chronicles. It is a Dystopian Fantasy Romance with a fairytale spin. Slumber, book 1, will be out January 10, 2017.
Thanks for stopping by guys! I hope you’ll check out Dark Legends and find yourself capture by the stories inside.
Award-winning and Bestselling author J.L. Weil writes Teen & New Adult Paranormal Romances about spunky, smart mouth girls who always wind up in dire situations. For every sassy girl, there is an equally mouthwatering, overprotective guy. Of course there is lots of kissing. And stuff. Most of her books are for ages 16+. They usually have what she considers the good stuff – sexual content (oh yeah) and swearing. You have been warned 😉
An admitted addict to Love Pink clothes, raspberry mochas from Starbucks, (yum!) and Jensen Ackles (double yum!). She loves gushing about books and Supernatural with her readers. www.jlweil.com
